The jackal-headed god of funerary rites, protector of graves, and guider of souls to the Underworld. It is believed that Anubis invented the mummification process. One of his prominent roles is overseeing the "Weight of the Heart," in which it was determined whether a soul would be allowed to enter the realm of the dead.
